DOMAIN FAQS

1.  If I register my name with Your Web Center, who owns it?

You do! Even if you end your services with Your Web Center you own your domain name as long as you continue to renew it.

  2.  Can I register additional domain names?
Yes, we will register additional domain names at a cost of $9.95 per year per registration.

  3.  After I register a domain name, how long does it take to become active?

It takes approximately 24 to 72 hours for your new domain name to show up in the registry database and to propagate the root DNS servers.

  4. What name servers should I use for my domain name?
When changing hosting companies or commencing with a new hosting company, your new details have to be given to the former domain registrar for traffic to be redirected to your site.

You will need to provide the following information for Your Web Center servers.

Primary DNS Server:         NS1.ev1servers.net     207.218.192.38
Secondary DNS Server:    NS2.ev1servers.net     207.218.192.39

  5. Can I change my domain name?
No, once you register a domain name it may not be changed. However, you can register a new domain name.

  6. My domain name is expiring or has expired. Can I transfer it?
No, ICANN policy prohibits the transfer of domain names that are expiring or have recently expired. You will have to register your domain name with your current registrar and then transfer it.

  7. Will my registrar change when I transfer my DNS.
No, the registrar will not alter unless you request a change.

  8. How do I transfer my domain name?
To transfer a domain name to our registry service, you must have access to the administrative contact E-mail address on file for the current registrar of the domain name. You are required to confirm the transfer request via E-mail to that administrative contact.

If you do not have access to this E-mail address, please contact your current registrar.

To initiate the transfer of registrars, E-mail will be sent to you by Your Web Center requesting your authorization. After the transfer request is confirmed, your registrar will be contacted for their authorization to these changes. The changes will be approved as soon as the modifications are validated.

  9. Can I have a subdomain?

Yes, depending on the hosting plan you choose.

Subdomains are a way of creating separate accounts within your master account, and are accessed as separate URLs. For example, you may have a subdomain as www.subdomain.yourdomain.com.

Subdomains are required to have their domain names registered.

  10. Can I park a domain?

Yes, depending on the hosting plan you choose.

You can set up a domain name that you own to point to another domain name. This is known as "parking" a domain.
For example: you own domain A and B, you can park domain A and each time it is accessed it will automatically go to domain B.
